Encourage A Child's Dream

I know I have mentioned the radio station WCCC a few times. I listen to them on my way to work, at work and on my way home.

Last week I was listening to the Sebastian in The Morning Show. They were talking to a man by the name of John Denner. John Denner is a self taught one handed guitarist. When I heard him play I was absolutely amazed. He dreamed of playing the guitar since he was a kid. He designed a special pick, studied how other guitarists played and then tried himself. He said he waould play for a while and give it up.

You my wonder why I am posting about this man. I do not know him, nor had I ever heard of him before last week. I think it is really about inspiration and teaching your children, disabled or not, that you can do what ever you want if it is in your heart. I have a child who is considered disabled under other health impairments and a child who also happens to say "I can't" an awful lot. Granted he is not physically disabled, but whether physically or mentally disabled it all takes the same toll on your self esteem. When I showed him what this man had accomplished he was amazed...So please if you have a child or know one, a niece, nephew or even a next door neighbor who may be disabled or not, please encourage them to be all they can be and if they ever say they can't tell them "Yes, You Can." Then help them, help them accomplish their dreams...

You are so right! Always encourage your child because they need all the encouragemetn they can get to achieve greater things! SOmetimes I forget that rule and I tell my daughter not to do something because she can't (partly because we're afraid she might hurt herslef) and she just tries and does it! So there are no limits except our own! :) Nice blog by the way!

I forget that rule as well. I am always worried about my son's safety. He is very impulsive and it scares me an awful lot.
