Forced To Have Health Insurance

I heard the strangest radio commercial the other day. In the state of Massachusetts it is against the law to NOT have individual health insurance! The consequence for not having it is a tax penalty. Now I has really had time listening to it seeing as my son was chatting up a storm but I found it quite odd that people would be forced to have it. I hope I heard that incorrectly or that it is some sort of radio joke or promo, I mean yeah everyone should have health insurance but I thought this was a free country! Geez, what was I thinking. Best of luck to all of you in Massachusetts with that new law.

It Happened Part 1

I was driving back to work from Lowes on Friday, in deep thought about whether or not we should get a Bose home theater and my cell phone rang. Of course I didn't catch the call due to driving and my phone was buried in my purse of death! I finally got my phone from the bottom of the purse of death, looked at the caller i.d. and I see that the school called. Usually it is Zachary so I never call right back, but I did decided to listen to the voice mail and it was my sons teacher. "Ann Marie, Zach is not doing so well right now. Please call us back." My heart sank, the build up to an explosion was in the works and it finally happened. I called the school back and when I finally got through to the class room some other lady answered and 1/2 assedly told me what was going on. She never really gave me the information I wanted. So I hung up and proceeded to go back to work to handle this at my desk.

I was almost at work and my phone rang again. This time I knew who it was by the ring, it was Zachary. I answered the phone and he is hysterical on the other line, crying and very, very upset. I told him I would be there in a little while to get him he just needed to hang in there. I got back to work, called back the school and the same lady I hung up on answered the phone again. Ugh, how can I get away from her?? At this point and time I didn't want to talk to her and ask for his teacher. She kept wanting to talk to me and I finally said "If you don't put Nicole on the phone I will hang up on you again."

She put Nicole on the phone and I told her I did not need to deal with someone who seemed clueless to the situation. She said that I needed to come and get Zachary, that he could not go on the bus. So I left work wondering what the hell happened and why Zachary has taken a turn for the worse the last few months. Is there something wrong in that class, is the bad behavior of other children rubbing off, is he fed up?

Going Backwards

I haven't talked much about Zachary in a while. Things seemed to be going ok, but things aren't always as they seem. He has been having a rough time in school. His school year started off great and after the new year things have taken a turn for the worse. I tried to pass it off as puberty although I don't know if that is entirely the case. One thing I have noticed is that his Tic is getting to be more pronounced. I think I have noticed it because he was at my mom and dad's for a week. When he stopped taking the Ritalin it didn't seem so bad. They told me that if the Ritalin was the cause then it should go away. Well it never really did and now it is back full force, as if he never stopped taking the Ritalin. He sees his doctor again in May and I hope he can shed some more light on this.

I feel like we are back in 6th grade, nobody knows what's going on with him, he is angry and hostile. He has been taking Risperdal for the the voices and as a mood stabilizer, maybe the dosage needs to be increased, I miss having the semi-compliant child and it drives me crazy to think that he will be on medication for the rest of his life.

I know taking everything out of his room except for his mattress isn't going to work. His issues go far beyond just bad behavior. I feel like, I don't know how I feel anymore..I feel like everything is out of control again.

I Don't Even Have One!

Zachary has been growing up sooo fast. I feel like I am losing my mind! The way he looks has become very important to him, which I think is great. His looks should be important. What I find more amazing is how wants change as they get older. His newest want is none other than a laptop! I don't have a freakin laptop, what makes him think he will be the first to get one! The kid cracks me up! At this point and time I have better things to spend money on like...gas! Now that it is hovering at $3.70 a gallon! What is this world coming to?? Who is in charge here? Maybe someday Zachary will get his laptop, not sure when, but it will be someday.

What The Hell Is In It?

I bought this make up the other day that claimed to be mineral makeup. I decided to try it the next day and when I put it my face felt like it should be a dried raisin! I thought for sure I was going to like it and boy I was wrong! I decided to look at the list of ingredients and the first one was..talc! Talc, wtf I thought, makes since why my face feels dried out. I didn't want 1/2 mineral makeup, I wanted the real deal! Now I just need to know where to get the real deal.

I see the infomercials on tv for two of them all the time. I would rather be able to go into a store and purchase it if possible. I don't have a fear of shopping on line at all, I just want to be sure that I get the right color. Anyone have any ideas?

Summer Vacation

Not so sure we will be having a traveling summer vacation. I was going to check out the
Outer Banks rentals in hopes to go somewhere none of us have been. So anywho, Friday night gas was $3.56, yesterday afternoon, it was $3.61. What the hell is going on?? The one thing that most people need is gas and they have found a way to rape everyone in the world. I am so afraid that one morning I am going to wake up and the gas in my car is going to me gone. My grandmother said the new thing is to drill holes into gas tanks and collect the gas that way. Someone needs to do something, I don't know who or even what but there will be utter pandemonium when gas hits four dollars a gallon. It looks like that will be a reality sooner than later!

Favorite Things

When I was a kid one of my favorite things to do was horseback riding. I used to go ever weekend and loved being around the horses. I was always a lot of work getting ready to go out but I always felt free and at ease. Now, I can't even imagine myself climbing on to one of those saddles! It has been years, probably about 20 years, actually 20 years ago I was 12 and I was younger than that! Maybe someday I will have the chance to do it one more time, you never know.

What were the things you used to do as a kid that you no longer do? Maybe because it isn't available or because it has been so long that your not sure that you could even do it. Please do share!

We Had A Quiet Week

Zachary had school vacation this past week and he spent it with my parents. I really missed him a lot, he spent it in New Hampshire and we live in Connecticut so it wasn't like I could just hop in the car and go see him. I think he had fun, a little bored at times, but that is what happens when you are away from your friends. I also think it was good for him, he got to spend time with my parents and got away from the hustle of the city.

I also think it was good for my mom, she has been having a tough time lately with work and I hope him being there helped take it off her mind a little. The company she works for has been driven in the ground by the owner and is on the verge of folding. He cut her hours and then cut her pay, so she has been knocked down a few pegs. My dad has been working 50 plus hours a week and I think they are just tired. My mom has been trying to find another job but jobs in northern New Hampshire are hard to find. She was making $18.00 and hour and she will never find that any where else! She did manage to get another part time job, I hope for her it will eventually turn into full time. We'll see, I don't want her to have to resort to selling things like air cleaners door to door...LOL just kidding!!

Been Away

Ever get in a funk, like you just don't have it in you anymore? I always have something to blog about so I don't think it is that, I think it just has to do with doing it sometimes. I love blogging and sometimes I think life's drama just gets in the way. So after another brief absence, I have made a descion to try and get out of my funk! Besides, I really missed reading what was going on with my blogger friends.

Today is supposed to be a really nice day. I think I am going to have a few friends over and fire up the grill! Well, my husband will do the grilling! Now that grilling season is up and going I really should go buy a new grill cover. The one we have is in rough shape and really should be replaced! So is everyone ready for the nice weather? Any good recipes for grills? If you have a good one, please do let me know.

Walking

So my job started their annual walking program. They basically pay you to go outside and walk around! Great concept if everyone around you didn't rat you out for walking on the grass or cutting a slight cornier. There are a bunch of snakes around here, need to watch yourself and trust no one! I personally would rather walk at home or on treadmills at the gym rather than dealing with that crap. The incentive, gift cards to Dick's Sporting goods, 1 dollar a mile for walking and 2 dollars a mile for jogging. We can earn up to 500 dollars during the walking season. I don't know, maybe I will give it a shot and see how it goes...

What Is It?

Have you ever come across something and not really been sure what it was, something like a word or an item? How about used cisco? I know what used means, what is cisco though was what I wanted to know. I guess there is only one way to find out and that is by looking it up, so that's what I did and now, I feel like a dummy! Apparently it is computer networking equipment. So if you are looking for refurbished computer stuff then check them out. Now that I have learned something new, I can go ahead and move on with my day! Phew, I feel better now!

Shopping

A new clothing store, well it really is not so new, new to the area, opened yesterday in the town I work in. It took the place of one of the furniture stores that closed down sometime ago. It is a Marshall's and when I went in there it was packed. Packed like there has never been a Marshall's around before! There were people everywhere, whining kids, ugh! It was a most unpleasant shopping experience that's for sure. I did manage to grab what I went there for and get out of there alive...lol. I hope in a week or so the excitement will die down, Zachary needs some clothes for the summer.

Dumb Girl

Over the weekend I went up to see my parents. It was a nice time as always and it was great to see them considering the last visit was during Thanksgiving. Part of the reason we went up was to drop Zachary and my niece off. They both had school vacation and I really did not want Zachary hanging out with his friends (I am not fond of most of them) or hanging out at his dad's house either.

On Saturday my niece got a call from another family member that her mom had been arrested and was in jail. Apparently she got messed up on something, broke into a 65 year old man's apartment, hit him on the head with a frying pan, stole $100 and some pills. The pills turned out to be heartburn medication. (dumb girl) Thankfully the old man is ok! Needless to say, my niece didn't stay for the week, she came home with my husband and I. I don't know what the deal is with this girl, she has been in numerous drug treatment centers and just can't seem to keep clean. My niece doesn't live with her (thank god), she lives with another family member and my brother is now trying to make her go back to New York. As far as I know he dose not know about this but it won't take to long for him to find out. Things in his household are pretty messed up too. No drugs as far as I know, buy my niece does not want to move back there. I feel bad that such a young girl has had to go through so much crap.

Back To Work

I had the pleasure of a long weekend and today I have to go back to work. Not looking forward to it all. I told my husband I was going to call out sick, he didn't think that was such a good idea! He may be right!!

My new boss is a pain, he always seems to hold my performance reviews over my head, as if to make me work harder or faster. Quite honestly I have had enough of that and the next time he does it, I am going to Human Resources about it. He shouldn't be allowed to do that, it is tasteless and it is almost like being blackmailed! What kind of boss does that?? So I suppose should go get ready to go back to work, goofing off on the computer isn't going to make the situation any better!

What's New?

A lot here, unfortunately blogging has been the furthest thing from my mind. Besides, I think my computer is getting ready to crap out on me! I hope not, cause I don't really have the money for a new one and I don't want to do a computer rental. We'll see, I think I may bring it in to work and have my friend in the IT department look at it. Better to be safe than sorry! Hopefully I can get to the bottom of the issues before it dies on me, then who knows what could be involved with getting it fixed. It probably would still be cheaper than having to buy a new one. Well, I should go read my emails and see what is going one since I was gone all weekend!

Another Car?!?!?

So we have another car! Not too happy about it, just another headache. It is a used junker, (I hope it doesn't look bad) that my mother-in-law's (ugh) friend was getting rid of. My husband heard "free" and said "I'll take it!" Dumbass...so anywho, I shouldn't bitch to much, I mean with gas at $3.29 a gallon and a gas guzzler of a Expedition, I guess we are going to be a little better off. (I hope) The car insurance shouldn't go up to much, but then again you never really know, my husband added it last night and never gave me the final number. So the SUV will be put in the garage and only taken out once in a while, I guess. I just hope this little car doesn't cost more for repairs then it is worth. To my husband it will be no big deal, it was FREE so any money put into it will be ok!
