I heard the strangest radio commercial the other day. In the state of Massachusetts it is against the law to NOT have individual health insurance! The consequence for not having it is a tax penalty. Now I has really had time listening to it seeing as my son was chatting up a storm but I found it quite odd that people would be forced to have it. I hope I heard that incorrectly or that it is some sort of radio joke or promo, I mean yeah everyone should have health insurance but I thought this was a free country! Geez, what was I thinking. Best of luck to all of you in Massachusetts with that new law.

Sounds like the beginnings of socialized medicine. I don't care much for that because, for one reason, doctors become government employees and aren't inspired to do their best.
Due to the effectiveness of Insurance industry lobbiests, most states require auto insurance now, is it really that big of a step to require health insurance? It was bound to happen. The premise of our country is Freedom, but the reality..? I'm not so sure anymore :(

Okay, that is a weird law as far as I'm concerned. I don't know if it is a good thing or a bad thing ...
If everybody HAS to have health insurance, the government should pay for it. But like someone said above, that makes for bad doctors most of the time.
You not having coverage drives up my rates. So yeah, I also think it should be mandated; it's the only way we're going to get a handle on the costs.
Hey Diamond, haven't seen you in awhile. Hope everything is okay.
Just dropping by to wish you a Happy Mommy's Day in advance :)
