What Holidays Do You Celebrate?

No to long ago (LOL..4th of July was just this week) I mentioned in a post that I hoped everyone had a happy and safe 4th of July. I received a comment that got me thinking.

Ross Hetherington
commented on that post after I Left one about his cute chickens. He said “4th July means nothing really to me. Living in the UK but I hope you had a good day.” Thanks Ross, I most certainly did!!

So now I am curious, What holidays do you celebrate in your country that we don’t here in the United States? Tell me about a little about them and what they mean to you. If you live in the United States that is ok too. We have many different cultures here and each one has it's own unique celebrations.

Well we have the various saints days which are not really celebrated properly anymore - due to the EU medling with everything and 'political correctness' *rolls-eyes*.

And a few bank holidays such as 'witsen' (sp) which im not really sure about the purpose of... but gives you a week off school lol.

  3. Hey Diamond, we're pretty blessed with quite a few holidays here seeing as how we live in a multi racial country. We celebrate at least 4 religious holidays here which is the Chinese New Year, The Hari Raya (The Malay New Year - correct me if I'm wrong people!) Deepavali (The Indian New Year) and Christmas (my favourite time of the year). It's really kinda fun celebrating all these festive holidays together and they are times when these holidays actually fall at the same time and we get to enjoy a double festival offering. We do have a lot more state and national holidays but I think these 4 takes the cake :)

Living in Canada we have Canada day. It's much like your fourth of July. Holiday for everyone on July 1 so you get to have a least one day of family day.
