Stop and Shop Was Looking For Panelists

Today I joined a supermarket research panel for the grocery store Stop and Shop. On their website were looking for customers to be a voice for supermarket research . They send you surveys and ask what types of things could be changed for the better. It is amazing to me the extent some companies will go to for the consumer opinions. I personally like doing these types of things, makes me feel like my opinion really counts. Who knows if it will really make a difference, but there is no harm in participating.

School Starts Tuesday

The countdown begins and as of this weekend summer is officially over!! Z goes back to school on Tuesday and so far he seems very positive. None of the "I don't want to go to school" or "I hate school" comments. Very, very positive this year and I couldn't be more thrilled.

We did school shopping last night and today. Z and I went to 3 different stores for clothes. I wanted to get as much as I could for the money I had. I love the the clearance racks. All the summer stuff is on sale and really he needs just t-shirts and sweatshirts for the fall. Then when winter hits we will go buy the long sleeved shirts. We made out like a bandit and are pretty much all set. I still need to get the usual under garments and a backpack, otherwise we are ready to rock!

An Eye Opener Into My Life

I chose to do a "sort of" review on a chapter of a book I read on the internet. Seeing as I am a woman and I have some very wonderful readers who are woman, I thought this would be a great post to do. For you men who read my blog, if you have a woman in your life you’d like to share this with, by all means please do so.

The chapter I read was 5 Promises: Make These Promises to Unleash the 10 Forces Within You out of the book, Inside Every Woman, written by Vickie Milazzo RN, MSN, JD . From the title you can tell the book is a book for women.
Now I have not read many self help books, actually I have never read a self help book, mostly because I have never taken the time to go to the book store and pick one up. This just happened to fall into my lap. I just want to add that I normally would now do a review of a book and that this is actually how I feel the chapter pertains to me personally, the insights it has given me on my life

Before I started to read this chapter, I thought, “Geez, this is a bunch fooey”. I figured that I would give it a chance since it a book for women, most importantly, written by a woman. I read Promise 1 and immediately my interest was peaked..

Live And Work A Passionate Life, neither of which I really do. I do my job not because I love it, but because I have to. I used to love my job, but it is a thankless job. When there is no support system, no one to back you up, you feel like your fighting a hopeless battle. You then succumb and become what the kind of employee the company wants you to be, not the employee you want to be. In my personal life, my passion is my son and making sure that he is growing up to be the best man possible with such obstacles in his life.

Promise 2: I Will Go For It Or Reject It Out Right…wow. This chapter made me think a lot. Very few people know this about me, but when I was a child of 8 years old, I told my grandmother that I wanted to be an actress or a lawyer when I grew up. Well, the dream of being an actress is far from over, but being a lawyer is still something I think about on a weekly basis. I had my son at 19 and have been using that as my excuse for not going to college.

Now at 31, I still use that excuse and follow up with “Well seeing as he has learning disabilities he will need me there to help him. His schooling is more important than mine is.” When in the reality of it, yes he needs me there, but maybe not as much as I think he does. It made me realize that I need to make a choice, either follow my heart or dismiss the dream all together. All these years I could have been working at it slowly, part time but I let the excuses get in the way and determine what I was going to do with my life. Would I feel more accomplished and fufilled if I make my dream of being a lawyer a reality. I bet I would!!

So with all that said, there is much more to this chapter and if you would like to finish reading it, which I would recommend, then check it out at http://insideeverywoman.com/ You have nothing to lose, it really opened my eyes to a lot of things in my life and will be the first self help book I own.

Sometimes I Wonder

I am always checking out the business opportunity ads in the classifieds of my local news paper. I find them fascinating and wonder if it is something I could possibly do.

Sometimes I wish that I did not have to work to make everyone else money. I’d really like to be my own boss. I often check them out to see if one of these little ads will have something I like to do.

If you look at the long and short of it, you really are still making money for someone else. Taker for instance the candy and toy machines you find in your local grocery or departments stores. Granted you may have the rights to those machines but a portion of all those quarters have to go to the person who supplies you with the product. So in reality you would be hoping and praying enough kids come out of the store and beg their parents for something. So really your still working to make someone else money.

Random babble now over….carry on.

$4000.00, That's It?!?!

My alarm clock sounded at 5 am, 30 minutes early than normal and would not shut up OR go away!

Meet my alarm clock....

How cute is she??
So I reluctantly got up, made coffee and started surfing the net. I found this story and was shocked.
This guy goes into a German hospital for brain surgery, the doctor's had to remove the top of his skull (obviously). So they toss his skull in the fridge to preserve it so they can reattach it after the operation. Well apparently the refrigerator was faulty and spoiled his skull! So the doc's had to give him a prosthetic skull made of plastic to protect his brain.
This man goes to court and is awarded 3,000 euros or 4,000 USD, not because the doctor's had to give him a fake head, but because the operation caused him discomfort! Ummm, what's wrong with this picture? Go in for an operation, have your skull cut off and have it replace with plastic and all you get is a settlement for discomfort caused by an operation? He is a much better person than I am because if I had to have a plastic head for the rest of my life, I would certainly be a little pissed off!!
